Bloomberg Plans a $50 Million Challenge to the N.R.A. from the New York Times
"Michael R. Bloomberg, making his first major political investment since leaving office, plans to spend $50 million this year building a nationwide grass-roots network to motivate voters who feel strongly about curbing gun violence, an organization he hopes can eventually outmuscle the National Rifle Association."

I'm really glad to hear this. Count me in on this movement.
I will be very curious to see what this money will support -- what's needed is political candidates (especially in red and purple states) that will MAKE THE CASE for reasonable gun limits.
Maybe he'll support some moderate Republicans - a dying if not dead breed - who will do just that. Anyway I too am curious and hopeful even, as to what he'll support and the impact his support will have. I hope it's for something more impactful than background checks, which seem to me ludicrously ineffective even when they happen.
It would make perfect sense for Bloomberg's new organization to fund moderate GOPers given that that is his own background! Will he go the route of sponsoring a PAC or advertising or ... what? We'll see. He's trying to "Make the world safe for gun control"!
