Tumult Highlights E.U.’s Past Missteps and Future Dangers from the New York Times
Speaking of weakness:
"The situation has underscored Europe’s divisions and exposed the chasm between the bloc’s high-minded aspirations and the rough reality of geopolitics."
I feel I should make a special category for articles on the EU and many of its constituent countries; something like, "Out-to-Lunch Foreign Policy". So far, though, many of the key players (as far as I have been able to determine) have hung pretty tough. Ah, but it's early. Based on past performance, Putin would certainly be justified in thinking he can outlast them.
